Yemeni Reality Echo: Exclusive
The U.S. Embassy to Yemen has strongly condemned the prolonged arbitrary detention of innocent Yemeni civilians by the terrorist Houthi militia.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Friday, the embassy highlighted that many individuals affiliated with its diplomatic missions, NGOs, and United Nations agencies have been unjustly detained—some of them since 2021.
The embassy renewed its urgent call for the immediate and unconditional release of these civilians, emphasizing that they have committed no crimes and were simply working to support their families and serve their communities.
It further stressed that the Houthis continue to destroy lives and extort the Yemeni people, while the detained individuals were only striving to contribute to their country’s prosperity.
The statement also noted that the plight of these innocent Yemenis has been hidden from public view due to the Houthis’ intimidation of the detainees’ families, pressuring them into silence and preventing them from speaking out, sharing images, or demanding justice.
“Nonetheless, these individuals remain in our thoughts,” the embassy affirmed. “We will continue our diplomatic efforts to ensure the release of all Yemenis held unlawfully.”
