New York hosted the fifth edition of the Yemeni Communities Cup in the United States, featuring broad participation from Yemenis residing across various American states. The opening ceremony was marked by celebratory atmospheres, traditional Yemeni *Zamil* chants, and national anthems, with attendees waving both Yemeni and American flags as a symbol of unity.
Fath Alaya, head of the Yemeni community in New York, emphasized that the tournament is not just a sports competition but a message of solidarity and belonging. He praised the strong spirit of cooperation among Yemenis abroad. Meanwhile, Hossam Al-Sanbani, Secretary-General of the Yemeni Football Federation, highlighted that talented players from the diaspora could secure spots in the national team, citing the example of Haroon Al-Zubaidi.
The competitions will continue in the coming days, with expectations of high-level matches and a large turnout, reaffirming the strength of national ties despite geographical distance.
